Volunteer
The Community/Family that a Ren Faire creates is a magical reality that lasts long after the last Patron goes home. That is how The Washington Shakespearean Festival works. We value your time, your ideas, your creativity. We work to bring JOY to the Patrons and to our Ren Faire Family. Everyone can get sun-burned and have a great time doing so at the same time.
We are under 35 days away from Opening Gate. Volunteers are the life-blood of this kind of effort. We can use your skills, no matter what they are. Below are SOME of the Committees and Teams we are forming now. Some just require a little time and feet on the ground. Some jobs require certifications and training. But all are welcomed. ALL!
We have volunteer opportunities in…
Logistics
A Thousand Errands Need to be done... a little at a time.
When we print 1,000 posters and 5,000 fliers, we need people to distribute them to markets, offices, barbershops, florists, schools, houses of worship and service groups, restaurants (and more - like your friends). Even Posting about the Faire on your Social Media helps!!!
Many hands = light work.
We will need help with logistics (parking, setting up/tearing down, taking tickets, customer service, giving merchants breaks, helping with the sound equipment… ) Building Props and Stages. Making Costumes, Games, and Signs.
And help with coordinating all these volunteers.
Administration
Tens of Thousands of Dollars will need to be tracked. Government entities need to be coordinated with and kept informed. Garbage, Power, Sewer, Health Permits, Talent Contracts… all have to be signed onto and made certain to be up to date and fairly monitored.
We need: Accountants, Book keepers, Liaisons with the City, County, Police, Fire, Hospitals, Security, Services, and more. We need banking services, Craft Services, Transportation, ADA, Hotel Coordination, and a Team to coordinate all the Performing Artists.

The policy of the Skagit County Fairgrounds (it is their property we are renting) is that service dogs are allowed, but not non-service pets.
So if you have a dog, that is a service animal, they are welcomed! They must of course remain on a leash and must adhere (of course) to all the behaviors expected of a service animal.
Sadly, if the animal is a pet, not a service animal, we ask that there be other options explored and understand some may not be able to attend because of that. I’m having to arrange care separately for my own dog and it is a hassle I recognize.
If any animal (dog or person) is not able to behave, is a threat, is disruptive, or is a bully, they will be escorted from the premises.
With respect, Robyn -
Yes, we have a state permitted license for a Beer Garden, which is serving "Toll Bridge Brewery” specialty beers and Belgians. And Beyla Brewing is bringing their tasty Meads.
One must be 21+ top be in the Beer Garden. There are many food options right near by.
Beyla Brewing will have another booth across the pathways (near building F) where they will sell their bottled products for OFF-SITE consumption. Alcohol on-site is only to be consumed within the “Exit - Pursued by a Beer” Garden. -
We have Trade Tokens for sale at $5.00 each. They are gold-coloured reproduction coins based on the most popular gold coin of Queen Elizabeth the 1st’s Reign. They were called “Angels” because of the face (St George slaying a Dragon.) Some coins feature the period reverse (Queen Elizabeth the 1st’s Flagship) and newer ones feature the Logo of the Washington Shakespearean Festival.
All Merchants and Entertainers, Food and Drink Vendors will accept them just like a $5.00 USD bill. You may trade them back in as you leave for $5.00 each, or keep them as a souvenir. If you find one in your pocket later, save it for Faire du Well 2027 June 11-13, 2027 (2nd weekend of June). Same location.
